The City of Santa Barbara and the County of Santa Barbara have joined together to identify and evaluate the feasibility of various trash conversion technologies that provide alternatives to landfilling of solid waste in southern Santa Barbara­ Coun­ty.

The City and County’s goal is to e­stablish specific project goals and criteria to evaluate modern trash conversi­on technol­ogies.  They will then develop a list of companie­s that are capable of meeting the goals, and then presenting that to the City Council and Board of Supervisors early in 2008.

At that time the City Coun­cil an­d Board of Supervisors will determine if they wish to proceed with a Request for Proposals from firms capable of providing services to our area, and under what terms and conditions.
